Jerusalem United

t
THE THREAT

Dear Friends,

On the 28th day of Iyar, 5727, Hashem gave our generation the gift of a united Jerusalem.  At the end of 6 miraculous days in June 1967, it became absolutely clear to all that Yerushalayim, in its entirety, belonged and will belong to his chosen people forever.

We have thoroughly enjoyed this gift; we freely visit Yerushalayim with our families, and many of us now own real estate in our eternal capital. Our children have never known another reality and take this heavenly reward for granted.

Suddenly, however, the fate of Jerusalem is in jeopardy.  Political leaders in Israel, who in the past, loudly proclaimed that Jerusalem would forever remain united under Jewish sovereignty have reversed their position and are now willing to give parts of our holy city away in the hopes of a lasting peace.  They have not learned the tragic lesson of returning Gush Katif, as they seem to be blind to the fundamental truth that there are no true partners for peace and no amount of concessions will satisfy those whose ultimate goal is the destruction of Medinat Yisrael

What should we do here in the Diaspora?  Busy ourselves in our day-to-day lives and hope someone there will take care of Jerusalem.  There are those who have argued that the final fate of Jerusalem is an internal Israeli matter for those who live within her borders and not meant for Diaspora Jews to concern themselves with.

Jerusalem belongs to all Jews the world over and we must all cry out together for Jerusalem’s sake.

When our brothers and sisters walked by the banks of the Babylon River as they were exiled from Jerusalem, they made holy oath for eternity.  “If I forget thee o Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its cunning.  Let my tongue cleave to my palate if I fail to remember you, if I fail to raise Jerusalem above my foremost joy.”

It is our turn.

Sunday, March 23, come to JerusalemUnited! A Concert and Rally to keep our eternal capital undivided.   Join dignitaries, family, friends and the brightest Jewish Music stars today to stand together and a united Jerusalem.

Join 5000 Jewish voices at the Armory, NYC who will not remain silent and allow our eternal capital to be divided.

Join 5000 Jewish hands extended to fulfill the mitzvah of tzedak, charity, and help relief the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Israel who have had their lives devastated by a terror attack.

Come to JerusalemUnited! Let us rejoice for Jerusalem and not, heaven forbid, mourn for her.
